I almost forgot to blog about this but I was reminded. The second day of our Langkawi trip, as we were driving, we heard some weird bumpy sound coming out of the car. I asked my hubby to stop to check the tires. It was dark as it was night time and there were no street lights. Fortunately we could stop at the entrance to a hotel where there were some lights so that we can see.

Yeap, one of the tires punctured. My hubby had to change it because the tire was really squashed and I don’t think it can move anymore. It was a car from the rental. I hope they have 5th wheel warranty.

All of us got out of the car for my hubby to change it. My children set by the side, as there were some flat stones for them to sit. They were occupying themselves with my iPhones games while papa changed the tire. I wonder if I am alone, do I know how to change it. I hope to learn to do it.

I need to do some refurbishing on my house lightings. One or two of the down lights fused and the energy saving bulbs are discontinued products. Sigh, I may need to call the electrician to change the down lights frame for newer bulbs.

Before I called my electrician, I was surfing the net for some great ideas on lighting style. I always wanted to change my dining room light to a pull down ceiling lamp. My children do most of their homework on the dining table and need brighter lights.

I like some of the lighting style from lightoutlet.com. They have free shipping and great lighting styles. It is great to have the lights ship to my door steps. It is time to shop for lights for me.

Backup & Recovery Tips

My new notebook hard disk was giving me problem. Imagine every 10 minutes, the CPU will be heavily utilized and everything freezes for a minute. My IT tech support team asked me to do a self diagnosis on the hard disk. It failed! A few times, I get this error “cannot detect hard disk” when booting up.

Since the notebook is new, the IT support team will replace the hard disk for me. I didn’t like this because I need to spend time reinstalling all the applications again. It took me a whole day to do that when I switched over to the new notebook.

A friend told me that there is software that comes with the HP notebook that allows me to backup the data and applications as well. In order to do this efficiently, I moved all my data into an external hard drive. Then I start the backup process that includes all application, registry settings and left over data.

It took an hour to build the recovery image. If I didn’t move my 150G data over to my external hard drive, it will probably take a day. Moving data to my external hard disk was fast. After the replacement of my hard drive, I restored my image. It works beautifully and it took only an hour.

Instruction: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup. A wizard will appear, select Advance Mode. Then just follow the screen for selection. Remember to select “backup everything on this computer”

I am glad there is a page ranking for my blog here. The page ranking is to determine how well your website will perform in the search engine. In order to get good page ranking, a legitimate way is to write good content. Next you need to attract people to come to your web site by advertising.

You can also do a directory submit to popular search engine.

I didn’t bother much about page ranking for a while. I just focus on writing what people would want to find out. People will come if you write good stuff.

Berjaya Langkawi Resort Hotel

It is a great resort in Langkawi. I did enjoy my stay there for 3 nights without much problem. Before the trip, I did read some feedbacks on tripadvisor.com about the hotel. It was a mixed feeling. I was kind of confused why certain people gave lots of positive feedback and the others gave negative. Probably the negative ones didn’t get good rooms or they had high expectations.

I must say the kampung chalet does give me a feel that I am closer to nature. However the condition of the rooms does not portray a 5 stars hotel room for the value they charged. They do need some sort of refurbishing. The bathroom has a couple of stains, bottom of the bathtub is slightly cracked, TV is old, furniture is outdated and the resort facilities are limited.

The swimming pool is very wide. If they add in a slide for kids, it will be perfect. I kind of like the water wall by the side of the pool. There is a portion of the pool that provided some sort of Jacuzzi.

There are other activities available in the hotel like nature walk, water sports, beach play, swimming in the sea where they block off from water sports and lots of beach chair for a nice tan.

One more thing that may cause an inconvenient, some of the chalet are a distance from the lobby. You need to ride shuttle van to and from the room. However the wait is just 5-10 minutes. I am pleased that the chalet given to us is walking distance from the lobby.

The price of the rooms is a little steep if you asked me. I would go back if I still get the Berjaya Membership rates from my good friend. My family did enjoy the resort.

Do you have a reliable managed hosting for your website? I am glad that I engaged one that I am able to reach when there are issues. They have a good ticket logging system. If I need anything, all I have to do is to submit a ticket. A staff will be assigned to help me out.

Most of the time, I get quick resolution from them. I guess they are very knowledgeable. On top of that, I do not have to pay a lot for hosting with them.
