Thinking Of A Change

October 30, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

I always wonder if ever I can change my occupation, which other occupation I can do best. I do have a liking in Convention Services/Events Staff Jobs but not sure if I can excel in it.

With these kinds of jobs, I believed I can work for hotels. Isn’t that cool? I will also get to meet lots of different people which I like. I like to learn about people’s culture.

If I ever lose my current job, maybe I can consider this.

Household Tips: Iron & Folding Bed Sheets

October 28, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

Ironing is another challenge to me. Often I cannot get it right and do a good job on it. However I am still discovering new ways of doing so.

Some handy tips on ironing

- Iron in a position where you are comfortable, the ironing board height must be right for your position so that you do not get backache.

- Iron in a cooling room, as the heat from the iron can make you all sweaty and uncomfortable. You can use some soothing music to lighten up the mood.

- Place a aluminum sheet below your iron board cover. It can reflect heat so that it automatically iron both side of your garment.

- You can use quick spray starch to ease your ironing. Just add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to 2 cups of water, stir it and pour it into a sprayer. Spray it on to the garment when ironing.

Here is a video that show you how to iron and fold your bed sheets.

Little Memories

If my grandpa was alive today, he would love to have these backwoods cigars free shipping. Once in a while he will smell his cigar before lighting it up. Then he will tell us some stories of his old days. That’s how I remember him. Maybe I was very young at that time, I couldn’t remember any of his story.

Besides that, he has a pet monkey. I like playing with his monkey. After he passed away, his monkey was passed on to my mom. We took care of it. It did live a very long period of time.

Mitigate Risk

October 1, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

Would you ever take a personal loans for investment? It sound risky right. However if you take a loan to get a property and put it out to rent, it is also an investment plan. The risk here is much lower right. At least you have a property to sell off if the investment fails to minimize the losses.

Every investment you make has a risk but different degree of risk. Who say that putting money in the bank is risk free? Well the bank can go bankrupt and your money is in cold water. But the bank going bankrupt is a small probability.

I am not a finance person but I still do some research and homework before starting an investment. I would suggest you do the same before putting your money in.

Household Tips: Smelly Shoes

You know what is the natural way of getting rid of smelly shoes stink? It is very simple. All you have to do is to take some newspaper and crush it, make it into a ball. Stuff it into your shoes. Put it there over night. Next morning the bad odor will be gone.

Newspaper has carbon and carbon is the best thing to absorb bad odor. You can do the same for your fridge.

Just put a few piece charcoal wrap in cheese cloth or any cloth with holes. The cloth is to prevent the charcoal from dirtying your fridge. I bet the smell will be all absorb by the charcoal. It is natural and definitely safe!

Household Tips: Lemon & Microwave

September 15, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

It is the most natural way to clean your microwave. It is really simple. All you need is a microwave container, I use one of my pyrex bowl. Fill half with water. Cut 1 lemon into 2 pieces and throw it in.

Set it on high for 25-30 minutes. After that, keep it close for 1 minute for the lemon water vapor to fill up the inside. Take a cloth and start to wipe off the dirt inside. The stain will come off easy. It is amazing.

You don’t need any strong chemical to remove stain. Some chemical can leave residue inside your microwave which may end up in your food.

At the end of it, it gives a nice lemon smell too!

RC Toys

September 15, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

My little girl is asking me to get a remote helicopter for her so she can fly it. When I was in US, I did see a lot of these remote helicopters for sale. One of the sales man told me that the cheaper ones do not last especially when it go crashing to the ground or hit something hard. However the good ones are really expensive. I didn’t get any.

Maybe those electric rc trucks are more reliable. By the way, Queensbay mall have a open track for you to test out these remote toys. You can even race your cars there.

Household Tips: Removing Gum From Hair

September 7, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

Recently I read on my FB that a boy had gum on his hair and the mother’s maid cut off the portion of the hair leaving an empty patch. This is a common problem, somehow the gum likes to get into children’s hair. I remembered when I was young, I had the same experience. I suspect that my brother put it there.

Actually I read somewhere that you can remove the gum without chopping the hair. You can use ice to harden the gum and apply some virgin oil on to the hair with gum. The gum will somehow slip out of the hair. Others recommend peanut butter but I think that is way too messy.

Here is a video of how a mum remove gum from her child’s hair using olive oil.

I have discovered some method of folding underpants and would like to share with you. Actually the first method, I learn from my part time maid. It is very neatly done and you will not mess up your other underpants when you try to choose from the lot. It is like folding your socks. It does save a lot of space when you pack your underpants in your luggage too.

Here are the videos that were made by others on the fold. Enjoy and hope you have a more organized cupboard.

Penang Hard Rock Hotel CheckIn Not So Rock!

September 3, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

Recently I was really frustrated with the check in process at Penang Hard Rock Hotel. I made a reservation for a seaview room 4 to 5 months back, using my stage pass complimentary voucher. It is clearly written, if I booked on Sunday to Thursday, I am guaranteed a seaview room.

On the check in day, the front desk told me no seaview room. He argued with me that it is only based on availability. I am really annoyed that he didn’t know the stage pass terms and condition. He still insisted it was based on availability. Next he told me that I booked a hillview room. My reservation clearly stated a seaview room.

Then he asked me to wait 15 to 20 minutes. My family waited. He didn’t bother to update me after 30 minutes. I had to go to the front desk to ask again. After which he told me that he cannot get a seaview room for me. I asked him to escalate to his manager. He pulled along another staff.

I had to repeat my situation, she told me that she will check but need to wait another 15 minutes. I waited. Still no news after 15 minutes. I didn’t see any action being taken either, no updates.

By the way, I arrived at the hotel at 1:45pm, they finally gave me the room at 3:10pm. Lastly, one of the staff told me that the check in time was 3pm. The staff should have told me that upfront rather than asked me to wait 15 minutes after 15 minutes. They didn’t even bother to serve us any welcome drink while waiting. It really spoiled my entire stay at the hotel.

How To Frustrate Your Customer?

August 26, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

Early in the morning, I got a call from Citibank Malaysia. I wasn’t in a mood to talk to them because I work very late the night before and needed my beauty sleep. The sales agent and a Citibank called about my complaint.

It all happens a few weeks back when a credit card promoter approached me, asking me to sign up for the cash back credit card. I was being nice and hear him out. When signing up, every customer would look for the benefit of what the card can provide.

The agent told me:

  • A nice luggage bag and a knapsack for first 150 customers will be sent to me. No mention when.
  • $50 cash rebate back after 3 transaction made, to cover the govt tax.
  • Cash back as you pay for petrol (5%), groceries (2%)…etc.

After I signed up for the card, here are the extra T&C, not mentioned.

  • Luggage bag, after 3 transactions and wait after 6-8 week, the gift will be sent. Other banks, I get the free gift on the spot!
  • $50 cash rebate after 3 transitions and wait 60 days.
  • Cash back, you get it after collection of minimum RM50. By the way, I cannot find this policy in their website. Other banks, I get it REAL TIME.

Nice to hear all the good benefit but you still have to WAIT to get it. A few words for you Citibank, you can have the card back!

Cool Custom Wheels

August 26, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off

I didn’t know that you can have cool car rims until my 4 wheels were stolen. Yes, many years ago, I parked my car outside my house and next morning my dad screamed when all my 4 wheels were stolen.

Imagine, my car was park on a slope, yet the thief can jet it up and take away all the wheels. They left 2 jets to support it. How crazy can he be?

Anyway, I reported to the police and went shopping for new wheels. I wished I had known the beyern custom wheels, they have really cool custom wheels. I drove a sporty car too, it certainly add style to it.

After that incident, my car is parked inside the house rather than out.

With technology these days, we can do conference calls at your very own home. I am so glad that the infrastructure here allows me to do that.

These past 2 weeks, I have been having many night conferencing calls, it was the most intensive long hours of meeting I ever have in my working career. 8 hours straight without leaving my chair, except bio break for 2 weeks.

Guess what? None of my data or voice line gave me any trouble.
