Finally a Domino outlet is opened near my area. Now they delivered to my home. Frankly I never tasted Domino’s before. I always wanted to get my teeth on it but the only outlet was in town. If I go down town, I probably will not go for pizza.
Anyway, I decided to have Domino’s Pizza on Saturday. I tried to register myself online and I failed. They probably didn’t update the database. It kept saying that it didn’t deliver to my area. A bug in the website search engine too.
So I picked up the phone to order. The staff that took my order had me repeating my info a few times and worse he mispronounced my name, even though I told him what it was! That is why I preferred to order online. Sigh.
The pizza came. I regretted ordering the thin crust because it is real thin. It was cheesy compare to Pizza Hut. However I found that the toppings weren’t sufficient. I like the breadstix, it was delicious. I preferred the chicken wings from Pizza Hut because Domino’s wings have too much BBQ sauce.
Ooh…they even provide chili flakes for the pizza. I like that. I really should have order Classic Crust!
Here is my meal….
I love all kind of mango. I got a bunch of green mango from the tree in my church. Thanks to my church friend who use a long stick to whack the fruit down.
This type of mango cannot be eaten just like that because it is very sour. It is good for making preserved mango or eaten with rojak sauce. Some home I love smelling this mango because it is very fragrant. They should make a perfume from this fruit.
Here is the simple recipe to make delicious preserved mango.
1. Remove the skin and the seed in the middle.
2. Slice it to pieces.
3. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and mix it. Let it set for 5 min.
4. Add 10 tablespoon of sugar. If you like it sweet, you can add more. If you like it spicy, you can cut and add some cili padi.
5. Put it in a container with the sugar juice and let it set in the fridge
Yummy…simply delicious. However I cannot take a lot of this because my teeth will be painful.
It is one of my favorite foods. It is cooked glutinous rice in a long big bamboo stick. The bamboo stick is placed on an open fire like bbq. It is good to eat with Rendang beef or chicken. You may only get Lemang during Ramadan or Raya season.
Often Lemang is sold by the road side. Whenever you see people burning bamboo stick, you be sure there is Lemang to be sold. I am glad that I can find it near Bayan Baru Market or Mosque. At this month of Ramadan, there are stores set up at the open area to sell all kind of malay food in the evening. Besides Lemang, you can find ayam percik, kebab, laksa, murtabak, daging soup, malay kuih and lots of food.
Simply delicious…..burppp…opps.
I had another pig out session at Kampachi Hotel Equatorial for a Japanese buffet. For RM 86++ per person, it was not that great. I didn’t see much variety. Oh well, it is a Japanese buffet, what can I expect. I am impressed that they have oysters and mini lobster or they called it crayfish. Those were great, I had more than a dozen oyster and a dozen crayfish to get my money worth.
Other stuff would be sashimi, sushi, hand rolls, tempura, sukiyaki and Japanese dishes. It’s what Japanese places would served. The sukiyaki was too salty.
Last, it was some western desserts. I was expecting mochi but didn’t get any. The crème bulle and tiramisu was too sweet. At the end of the day, I got a full tummy with no perspective about the buffet. I think they can do better with the amount they charged. Fortunately for me, it is free for me and my family.
They charged RM46++ for children above 4. How much can a child eat at age of 4-6? Not much. Verdict, it is not worth bringing children below 6. They should bring up the age to 6.
I was given a stack of Haagen Dazs ice-cream vouchers so I thought I might else well get a tub to try. I got Tiramisu flavor. It was indeed very sweet to begin with. On top of it, it was nothing out of the extraordinary. My children tried the toffee and mango flavor on the cone. I like the crispy cone but the ice cream were very sweet, even without toppings. For RM12 per cone, I will not buy it on my own.
I have some more vouchers, so tell me what other good flavor to pick so that I will not be disappointed again. With the vouchers I have, I can go for another 5-6 more tubs.
Anyway, I still love the world class choc from Baskin Robins.
I first discovered the Big Apple Donut when it landed in the Curve KL. Now it has makes its way to Jusco in Ipoh. I am waiting it to come to Penang. Let’s see who make it here first, JCO or Big Apple. I wonder how much the franchise is.
Once in a while, I will be craving for donuts and it is still 2 hours drive to get to it. I was happy when I return from Cameron Highlands, I am able to drop by Jusco in Ipoh to get a bite of those donuts.
It goes well with my cuppa of Cameron tea. Simply delicious….
I love Chinese dessert especially “tong sui” meaning sweet soup dessert. We have red bean soup, green bean soup, almond soup, bubur cha cha, herbal egg, peanut soup, black pulut soup, sweet potatoes soup and sweet sago dessert. It makes me drool just thinking about it.
There is this eating place in I-Avenue Bayan Baru Penang call Chopstick. They served mini bowls of red bean, black pulut and peanut soup. All 3 are my favorite soup. I like the way they served it in small portion so that I will be able to taste all 3 soups. They should prepared more variety and I think it can sell well.
Last time when I was small, there is this “tong sui” seller who comes around our house. We used to line up to buy his desserts. We drink them for supper. Yeap, we Cantonese like soups a lot!
My mom taught me how to make good double boiled soup. She gave me some Cordyceps Sinensis which she gets from the local Chinese medical shop. Cordyceps used to be very affordable but lately it is getting expensive. I heard one piece costs RM70. Fortunately for me, my mom gave me whole packets years ago.
Cordyceps are a type of fungi. It looks like a worm but it is not. The Chinese called it “Dong Choong Cao” It is said that cordyceps strengthens body immunity, improve respiratory conditions, improved fatigue and stress resistance.
It is simple to make delicious soup with cordyceps. All you need is a chicken, water and cordyceps. For my family, I usually just use a chicken drumstick. Put them all into a double boiled pot and boiled for 8 hours or more. After it is done, you can put a pinch of salt to taste. Believed me it taste delicious and it is nutritious. You try it.
Durian season is here and it is every where in Penang. Some are cheap and some are branded. My hubby and I went on a hunt for branded durian. We do not know the price of branded durian. We went to this “Durian Cap Kaki”. We asked for a few of the branded and good ones. I believed he said one of it is Ang Heh and 3 other different kinds. One guy, I believe is the boss, wearing gold chain and rings stood there. I guess you can strike rich just by selling durian.
The ah pek (aka uncle) charged us RM30 each. For those durian lovers, is it overpriced? My hubby said that previously he can get 5 for RM20. I believed that the price was expensive because it was branded. Next time I probably will do a market research on where I can get good cheap branded durian.
Night came, invited my FIL and have a durian feast. I love the Ang Heh, it is creamy and sweet. The rest of them were creamy too and fleshy but bitter. The aroma of the durian filled the entire house even before we open the durian. I guess this is the difference between branded and non branded durian.
It was simply satisfying. Next mission to hunt for cheaper ang heh. Tell me what brand of durian is the pic below:
I ordered fish and chips and this was what I got.
What a big fish on my plate. Frankly speaking this is the first time I see a chef served the whole fish on the plate for fish and chip. I can understand if it was a shared dinner. However the fish was really fresh and delicious. It was a trout. Cost RM14.90. It has some steam vegetables and a slice of bread with butter.
My children were going for my chips, no matter how I protect it. It ends up on their plate.
