I just discovered something new today with technology glitches. If you are holding a credit card with a RFID chip, make sure you have a protective pocket. I read that thieves are able to read rfid credit card by just walking passed the person carrying one. They have devices to do that. These devices will read the credit card number and they can use it to make purchases.
If you are having one of these cards, all you have to do is to buy a protective pocket that prevent any thieves from stealing your credit card info.

I was browsing through the fuji digital cameras and I have to say that I like the Fuji FinePix Z800 EXR model.

It has wide 3.5” LCD display that allows you to view the best quality pictures. I am sure you won’t go wrong with capturing some beautiful scenery. On top of that it has a motion Panorama 360 that allows you to capture the scene around you in a single photo. It has some intelligence system which it is useful of amateur photographer like me to take good pictures.

With technology these days, we can do conference calls at your very own home. I am so glad that the infrastructure here allows me to do that.
These past 2 weeks, I have been having many night conferencing calls, it was the most intensive long hours of meeting I ever have in my working career. 8 hours straight without leaving my chair, except bio break for 2 weeks.
Guess what? None of my data or voice line gave me any trouble.

Finally I got my new work monitor running at home. When the new one came, I could not get it to display more than 1 minute. At first I thought it was the driver on my notebook. I installed a new driver and it gave my notebook a blue screen. Next I thought it was the power cable and I asked my colleague to get me 1. I tried it but it only display for 1 minute. Sigh!
I decided to call HP help desk. They came and replace it with a new unit. Cool eh? It took only 1 day for them to do it.
Now I can watch movie on this screen. Oops, I mean work. I have been having a lot of night tele-conferences and a big screen does help a lot!
My kids just watch Despicable Me on it and they love it to the max!

Someone got a nintendo ds for her birthday. And she is a mom.

Now many mothers are having high tech gadgets to keep themselves educated with technology out there. It is good because you will bridge the gap of your child. At least you know why children are so into some of the games and relate to them.
Now the Nintendo DS comes with 3D screen feature, touch screen, and it has inward or outward facing camera. It comes with Internet features where you can connect for surfing. Cool gadget!

I am so used to having night Conference call. I am glad that my company provides a lot of tools for me to have online meetings and in my very own home. That means I do not have to stay in the office late.
First I have a VOIP phone that I can dial into the conference. Or I can use my house phone and dial a toll free number to join the conference. If I want to set up a meeting, I can provide a meeting id to my attendees for them to dial in.
Secondly if I want make presentations, I have another application where attendees can join online to see my slides. With that application, it has a chat box for discussion, participant lists of attendees, a screen to show the presentation slides, a poll if you want to get responses and you can share your desktop if you want to demo a program.
I am so glad that I am working in this high tech company to enjoy technology that makes my life easier so that I can focus on my work.

In my work, sometimes I need to go down to production area to look at the system. I have to wear safety clothing to protect myself and to make sure I don’t contribute dust to the product. Most products manufactured in my company are sensitive.
I was glad to have witness the liquid and gas chromatography instrument production line while I was in the US. The way they manufacture the machines to test chemical or gas. Some of the machines were used in filming CSI. I am so proud to work for a company that produces such high tech instrument.

I upgraded my WP 2.1 to 2.9 months ago. I found that after the upgrade, I get a lot of SPAM comments. Believed me when I was on WP2.1, I hardly get any SPAM because I used my own filtering.
Today I get SPAM every day. I would have thought that the new upgrade would tighten security but it does not. Now I have to scratch my head to think of a good way to fight against SPAM.
I was forced to upgrade because the PHP upgrade will no longer support old version of WP 2.1.
Now WP3.0 is available, should I go for it?

My notebook is due for tech refresh, meaning it will go on end of life support and my company will provide a new one as a replacement. I am waiting anxiously for the email to come. I am anticipating the email will arrive next month for me to order a new unit.
Now my notebook is starting to act up, taking too long to wake up in the morning. It probably takes more than 10 minutes to start up. If I have an early morning meeting, I will not shutdown my notebook. The scanning software takes forever to scan my entire disk. Maybe I have too much stuff in there.
I cannot wait for the arrival of the new unit.

I really need a cell phone signal booster at my home. My cell phone cannot get any signal when I am at ground floor of my house. It is a pain for me because as I step out of the house, I get a lot of missed calls. I would need to call them back.

If anything that I can do to get signal, I would like to try it. Of cause, I need to ensure whatever gadget I install, it has to completely safe for human.

I really cannot understand some of my electronics devices at home. They can be unpredictable. I have an external hard disk connected to my router. When the WiFi is on, sometimes my notebook can detect it but sometimes it can’t.
I tried to configure it over and over again but it just cannot find it. Another day, it decided to show up without problem. I do have a moody device here.
If I really want to connect to it, I just pull the USB cable and plug it into my notebook. It is so advance, it is just beyond me.

Finally I have set up my VOIP on my notebook. Pretty cool! Now I can call and received phone calls from my notebook. I don’t have to be in the office to pick up my office calls. Everything is redirected to my notebook. That’s the beauty of VOIP, I can be anywhere, and as long as I have a notebook plus WIFI with me…I can pick up your call.
I wonder in the future, can my notebook cook my lunch and dinner. Well at least I can order pizza from it.

I got my hands on the Mini 110 HP Netbook. It is small and very light. I am glad it came with XP rather than Vista/Windows 7. It is installed with HP Games too. It does everything I need in there. It is very good for those who just want to access Internet, FB and blog. It is definitely suitable for traveler.
On the technical specs:
Intel Atom N280 Processor 1.66GHz
160 GB (5400 RPM) Hard Drive
1024MB RAM
Webcam
10.1” diagonal WSVGA Anti-glare Widescreen Display
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with shared graphics memory
802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
6 in 1 Digital Media Reader
6 Cell Lithium-Ion batteries
3 USB port
On the not so good side, the screen is too small. I have to do a lot of scrolling too read a page of articles. The 6 cell Lithium batteries spoiled the design because it is bulging out, looking like a docking station. I also find it difficult to do pictures or photo editing with such a small screen.
Well this unit got a 3 years warranty and I hope it lasts as longer than that. I heard that many notebooks bum out after 1 year.
This cost RM1399.00

Netbooks are becoming popular. People are likely to purchase one because it is small, light weight and easily carried around. There are many branded netbooks out there. However most of them have the same features. They have features such as WIFI, Internet Browser, Bluetooth and it is just like a mini computer.
Netbooks are very affordable too. I don’t mind getting one actually. At least I can travel with it and get on the Internet. I wonder which brand is good. I heard some get overheated due to battery. You may want to avoid those brands.
I must read more review on the netbook before getting one.

Finally, I will get to use the VOIP phone. My company is implementing VOIP phone and everyone is excited. VOIP is calling using the network with voice and data capability.

Actually I tasted VOIP using my iPhone over skype. It goes through the internet to make a call. The quality is not bad and it is cheap. I used it often when I am travelling. I can call home when there is wifi available. Calling LAN line is free. I like this concept!

The other day I heard from the news that a strong wind almost made a warehouse collapse. It is really dangerous to have a poor structure for any building. Maybe the owner should look at steel buildings. It is able to withstand terrible weather conditions.
Fortunately there were anyone hurt or injured, only property and goods damage. It still cost money.
If you do not want to lose sleep over your property, you can get information about steel buildings from OlympiaBuildings.com. They have 25 years of warranty and 30 years of experience. They used 100% American steel.

Yeah I am connected! Now I basically do the thing on my notebook with my iPhone. For one, I do not have to switch on my notebook to check my meeting appointments, email and alerts. I can do it with my iPhone. I can surf my company intranet too.
Now my company has enabled the Exchange server to push email to my iPhone. I can read or reply email on the fly. It is pretty cool. And no I am not obligated to reply any work email after office hour.
With this feature, I do not need to wait for my notebook to wake up every morning. It is getting slower and I am always wondering what they put in there that takes forever to run. It is running in the background churning up all the memory. Sometimes I had to kill some processes that I know I won’t use.
Anyone knows where I can get a cheap 3G 16G without contract?

Many have asked me what USB Modem is or how it is used. Well with advanced technology, we do not need any wire to make a call or use Internet.
A few months back I bought an USB Modem from Celcom for a backup Internet usage. It is important for me because I need it for my work. It is kind of frustrating when I am in a teleconference and my ISP decided to sleep.
The Vodafone USB modem allows me to insert a SIM card, the normal SIM card that you would use for a mobile phone. You can use any local telecommunication SIM. You can pick from Maxis, Celcom or Digi. Whichever that provides you with the best internet plan for your need. I went for Celcom Prepaid broadband as it is my backup ISP. The 3G speed is pretty good.
Here are some pictures of how you would go about using it.
