I walked into BATA I Avenue Penang shoe shop to get 2 pairs of school shoes for my children. My children tried on some school shoes and finally found the right size. I asked the old lady sales woman with no expression (not sure why), was there any discount. She told me that there is no discount. I went to the counter and paid for them.
Later as I walked out, I saw the same brand with promotion and it was much cheaper. The school shoes were not much different too. I went back to ask the old lady sales woman. She said that those were old stocks and it is an offer item. I asked her why you didn’t tell me that there were offer items available for school shoes. She brushed me off by saying “You didn’t ask!” If I knew, I do not need to ask, right?
She is one disgruntled lady that really shooing her boss customers away. I will not go back to that shop ever again to buy any shoes.
Hotel rates are raising in Singapore especially those located in strategic location. I was able to experience a hotel near the heart of the city. What really attracted me was the free complimentary mini bar that was advertised. I was a little disappointed as they only offer drinks and no snacks. There were 2 bottles of oranges, 2 can of coke, 2 bottles of drinking water, 1 can of milo and 2 cans of beer. Where are my chips and chocs?
On top of it, the package came with free WiFi, most hotel I previously stayed I have to pay. The room was clean and not too small. It has a 32” LCD TV. It is also a smoke free hotel. If you caught smoking in the room, you are fined with SGD300. As always, Singapore is a fine city.
Royal Plaza Hotel is situated near Orchard where the shopping arena is. It is also very near the MRT stations.

We had a choice between the Singapore Science Center and Jurong Bird Park. Both I heard were equally good. My hubby had 1 day off on Labor day, so we could only go to 1. After much discussion with him, we pick Singapore Science Center, at least it is in door and the children can learn and have fun with Science.
Singapore Science Center is located in Jurong East, you can take MRT to Jurong East Station on East West Line and transfer to bus no 335. We took a cab instead.
We made the right decision, there are so many things to play, learn and have fun. We started with the Omni-Theatre, a dome shape IMAX theater that gives a 4D effects movie. We learnt about the human body.
There is also a mini water park for children to have fun. If we knew about it, we would have bought an extra change of clothes. My children just love playing with water. The place is huge, we could only cover the Atrium, even that we didn’t finished all the science stations. We didn’t go to the Snow City.
Entrance fee is $6 for adult and $3 for child, for IMax theatre $10 for adult and $5 for child, per movie. We bought the special package $12.80 per adult and $6.40 for child. Food wise, there are not many places to eat, only 3. McDonalds, a buffet lunch or Rocks café. There were a crowd in all food places since it was a public holidays, even the buffet lunch have to make reservation. We ended up in McDonalds. I must say that the kid’s meals are healthy, not the nuggets but they serve milk drink and fresh apples, instead of oily fries and soft drinks.
The most interesting thing we saw was the Lightning demo or experiment, my hubby recorded it for you to watch. Don’t worry, there is no thunder but an explosion at the end.
More pictures on how fun and educated the day was.
Lightning Experiment
Last week I went for a shopping spree in Singapore. It was really cool to shop without the children. I managed to get a lot of stuff for myself. Hubby told me not to get anything for him. That’s easy. Children, they want Mr. Bean’s bear.
I got my children 2 Mr Bean’s bear, 2 jigsaw puzzles and a Monkey Game. The Monkey Game was selling at S$9.90 (RM22.80) but Toysrus was selling for RM39.90.
By the way, I shop so much that I practically know every shop in Orchard Road by now. I walk from one end (Tangs) to the other end (Meridien mall). Beside Orchard, I went to China Town (bags are cheap there, 3 for S$10), Suntec Mall, Raffles Place, Mustafa Centre (lots of Punjabi, Saris, India clothing) and Harbour Front. I wanted to get more things but I ran out of cash. 😥
For me, here is what I got:
I just love those crosses.
