Giant Hypermart finally landed in Penang. Not sure when will it open but the structure of the hypermart is complete. I will be looking forward to shop there. Hey it is only 5 mins drive away from my home. I heard that this will be the last hypermart approved in the Penang Island. Now we have Tesco, Carrefour (not on the island), Makro and Giant.
Tell me what are the best buy items in Giant Hypermarts? Milk powder? Diapers?

Giant stuff is cheaper… but the space management and services is not that efficient 😛
Hurray, Michelle, you know, i like to shop to Giant as the diapers (especially mamypoko) there are the cheapest in town.
Milk powder? Ya, sometimes cheaper than buying from chinese medical hall.
Yeah, Giant sometimes did offer cheaper diapers!
But for other grocery items, I still prefer to shop from Jusco! 🙂
At least you’ve got lotsa place to do ur shopping. I wonder when are they going to open Tesco in Taiping. Heard they’re going to open 1 but don’t know true or not.
Wah, ur area got Giant oredi? Good. U can go shopping more often lor hoh? I’ve got a fren working in Giant, so sometimes I can get 10% off on all stuffs.
But Giant doesn’t sell khinzir meat leh, Carrefour got wor.
No lar, I don’t think u can get cheap diapers or milk powder in Giant, only occasionally they have promotions, then it’ll be worthwhile but other than dat, better get ur stuffs from medical halls (with groceries). And the space are like u have to manoeuvre ur trolley every now and then to avoid ‘banging’ on other ppl’s trolley (get what I mean) – they tend to place too many other stuffs in the middle of the pathway.
Egghead: Jusco is coming end of next year. It is in Queensbay, revival of an abandon project.

Whne Tesco just open I quite like it, got a lot house brand (imported) very good value. but then after one year, it became more and more like Giant and Carrefour, so I rather go to JJ supermarket liao.
hehe..I hate giant..cause the things seems so disorganised, the queues are slow (counters got plenty but open only a few)…and they are not that cheap. There’s one time I line up for almost 1/2 an hour only to find out that counter is for 8 items only, so i got to shift my butt to another counter and line up all over again. Reason is the 8 item counter tag which was hanging from the ceiling was blocked by the over spamming of their flyers hanging all around the ceiling!! Sucks big time. End up I have to line up more than 1 hour just to get my 10 items from Giant.

IMHO Giant prices are more reasonable than Tesco, and their promotion is really promotion la, Tesco wan advertise got promotion but during checkout they curi curi charge you norrmal price wan
For fresher stuff I oso still prefer JJ 😛
