That was what I did this weekend. I started a sofa cushion cover project. I regretted buying a pale color sofa because my children leave stains on it. I took it to the dry cleaner and they did the worst job ever. Instead of removing the stain, it got worst. I decided to do another set of covers on my own.
My aunt MIL gave loan me this sewing machine. It is an antique as you can see from the picture below. It is a hand sewing machine. I can only sew simple stuff like cushion covers or curtains. I donβt know how to do dresses although I would love to learn but no time. I remember during the old school days, I did sew an apron, house coat and a simple skirt. Yeah I did Home Science and I am proud of it.
Jasmine gave me another idea, she will give me a bean bag pattern to sew. I think I will do that right after this cushion cover project. By the way I have finished one cushion cover and will do another one next weekend. Then I will start on the bean bag. Bean bag are really expensive and over priced. I saw one cloth bean bag selling for > RM150. Maybe I can open a store just to sell bean bag.
I think this antique can fetch for a handsome amount of money in the auction market!!
I thot my hse’s that using leg to move one consider old liao, mana tahu u still using hand move one..yr hand tire or not?
Me also sew curtain & bed sheet for own use, sew in nice lace some more. can save cost ya!
you guys giving sewing classes or not, i wanna learn leh… and can start the bean bag business liao, i agree that it’s very overpriced
we used to have one like that at home too. belongs to grandma. years ago, she loan it to a relative, i think no chance to get back liao!!
What kind of bean bag at RM150? Next time when you balik KL, you can scout to Carrefour for a nice bean bag.
Wuah seh, dat thing looks so ancient, can be send to muzium lor. Ur aunt’s MIL must have treated it as a ‘precious’ since it’s still working. (psst, psst, I hate sewing and gave up Home Science, hee, hee, took up Literature instead).
Gosh, I’d love to own one antique sewing machine like the one that you have there one day…. I was in the “perdagangan” class and never did home science. I like sewing coz my mum sews lots of our bajus (and my kids’ bajus).

Wah…That sewing machine reminds me of the one in my hometown. It belongs to my grandma and it’s still there…At least u know how to sew..I am very bad in sewing..Hehe…sure will go “senget” if I use the sewing machine. Very envy u lar..At least can do by urself and can save money.
My MIL has the sewing machine with the leg movement, if she gives that to me, I will have a collection of different generation sewing machines. π
Anyway, my aunt’s MIL passed away and she strictly instructed me not to sell the antique sewing machine. Oh well, it is not mine to begin with. One day, I have to return it but don’t know to who.
By the way, don’t try stealing it. The thing is darn heavy. I think more than 20kg. It is real steal!!
alamak, I thought mine is antique enough, your wan lagi tua …
but tua or not, bet you will sew a pretty out of it :D.
hehe happy sewing…now i remember i must go photostat and email u the steps π
