I don’t mean to down grade MAS but I think the online booking system needs a revamp to make it more user friendly for their customers. I guess this is one part where they are losing out to their competition the BIG AA.
I went to their website, hoping to see some good deals on flights to KL during CNY. However I came back confused. Look at the pictures.
They offer 2 choices Availability or Low Fares. Of coz, one will choose low fares but only for adult. Anyway, I selected 4 adults. The cost came up to RM1K.
To do a comparison, I chose Availability, selecting the same route, same dates and the same time for 2 adult and 2 children. The cost came up to RM1.6K. Now figure it out, 4 adults are cheaper than 2 adult and 2 children. :sc:
Tell me how am I to book the flights? Choose 2 low fares and 2 availability fare for children? Or choose 4 low adult fares, can children be treated as adult? I think I will drive down. :snooty:

Its a stupid system, really. the only difference, if u can see, one can mix and match u flights and the other one is basically the same, just that if u choose the departure flight, a returning flight is fixed for you, BUT its actually the same because for that departure flight, you get to choose you returning flight as well. Plain stupid lah.
Hahaa…. we have the same problem the last time with AA… after checking the cost of flying is more expensive than driving! And to think we still have to pay almost RM75 from the airport to my parents’ place…. it’s like the petrol $$$ for the entire weekend! Not to mention the fare was discounted… RM9.90 per pax but baby need to pay RM20…. so hubby said why don’t we just buy adult fare for Darrius, he was 5-month then…
haha no comment…but i think sometimes even with cheap fare, you still gotta pay for the airport taxes which are soooo high..sigh
Julian: Not only that, the COST per adult is also different, even if you pick the same flight, route, everything same with Availability vs Low Fares. I am not sure why they never put the low fares in the Availability search. :sc:
Angeleyes: Yes, I do that too, for AA, there is no children fare. When my gal was 1+ consider an infant, I also pay an adult seat for her. Easier for me.
Jazz: With AA, if you don’t turn up for the flight, they don’t refund the air port tax.
I was confused when I made the booking too. So I called up Customer Service. They explained that the Low Fare option doesn’t have any selection for children coz it’s oredi an offer fare. So children do not enjoy extra discounts on top of that. After making the comparison, u can go ahead and make the booking for 4 adults (as it’s cheaper), even tho u r flying 2 adults and 2 children.
