Every day I am hearing corporation cutting headcount to size the company according to their revenue. Yeap axes are falling everywhere and it is faster that we can avoid. I am so tired of it that I want to stand still. If it falls on me, let it be. I have been through many rounds of recessions because I have been working for this company for many years.
The first round, it was in the year 2000 I believed I was very anxious and there were 3-5 rounds after that. I am pretty much immune to it by now. Somehow the axe is always avoiding me instead of me falling on me. When I was working in KL, the last company I was with was also retrenching. They cut all of my colleagues in my dept except me. I was so disappointed in a way because I really had planned to move to Penang. Well, I went to plan B and spoke to HR, volunteering myself. She was kind to give me something.
Today, I am pretty sad because I heard a few of my colleagues were affected. It makes me just want to volunteer myself, if I could. Ultimately the working environment is not the same anymore. Morale is at the bottomless pit.
One of my colleagues just tempted me, saying with the tax exemption benefit it is good money. I have been with the company long enough to get a good package. Hrmmm…should I volunteer? Maybe I act as if I had Mesothelioma. If I did get the package, I will definitely take my family for a good vacation.

When petrol price went up, I didn’t feel anything. When food price went up, I didn’t feel anything. When café food went up, I didn’t feel anything.
Today, I felt the pinch. This morning I didn’t have time to go for morning breakfast at my local kopitiam. I decided that I will go to office and get something to eat. First I went to the vending machine to get my usual cup of milo. I put in 60 sen and a cuppa of hot water came out. Darn vending machine was out of order. Never mind, I scroll down to my office convenient store to buy a small pack of 3-in-1 milo powder. It cost RM1.00 (40% marked up). I also went to the café to get a piece of marble cake, it costs another RM1.00. Total spend: Rm2.60 and my tummy still growling.
I should have gone for the local mamak store, eat 1 piece of roti canai and a glass of teh tarik ice. Total cost: RM1.80 with a happy tummy. Sigh!
People are suffering and what does our gomen doing? They are more concern with the darn politics and internal affairs. No one taking care of the haze (people’s health), no one taking care of the poor people, no one taking care of upgrading kebangsaan schools and the children education system. I feel more than a pinch!

I just received an email on the new parking rate for Penang Queensbay Mall. I always like to go there because parking was RM1 flat rate.
Effective 21 April 2008 and 28 April 2008 for Basement and Multi Level Car Park respectively.
Basement – LG & LM (effective April 21, 2008 onwards)
1st Three (3) Hours is RM1.00; Subsequent Hour is RM1.00Multi Level – Level 3 to Level 8 Car Parks (effective April 28, onwards) 1st Five (5) Hours is RM1.00; Subsequent Hour is RM1.00
Open Car Parks remains at RM1.00 per entry
Oh well, now it just makes me think twice about going there unless it is less than 5 hours. No watching long movie for me in Queensbay Mall. Good for me too. Less visits mean less I will spend.
I heard Tesco eGate will implement parking fee too. Now I am wondering does all these have anything to do with hike in petrol and rice price. Talk about food hike, now penang hawker food as gone up 20-25%. My favorite bowl of asam laksa went up from RM2 to RM2.50. Next management performance review, I must talk to my manager about matching my increment with all these hikes.
