I believe blogging has gone to a whole new world, ever since paid post came into the picture. We used to write good quality post but sad to see many just writing for the sake of getting paid. I don’t deny that I often do that too. However there are lines I do not cross.
There are offers that I do not take such as gambling, pornography, alcohol and cigarettes paid post. In fact I reject a handful of gambling paid post that has a very attractive paid out. I mean I have to blog what is right, true to self and what to avoid.
As a parent, how can you teach a child not to gamble when I write or promote gambling sites in my blog. Lets us keep and maintain the value of our blog. Do not let money drive the value down.
My stand is even if someone offers to pay me more than 1K to blog about some gambling site. I will still not take the offer. Would you?
Today my colleague treats the department to Pizza Hut. As you know the salad bowl they provide is very small and shallow. I was always designated as the salad stacker. I am not a pro but I can stack up to feed 10 hungry souls. This comes with a lot of practice and also the way the Pizza Hut staff cuts the salad.
First you have to put a thin layer of lettuce at the bottom. Start a small corner with some coleslaw. Align the cucumber in a straight line, closely with the coleslaw supporting it. You can put other stuff to support the cucumber. When the cucumbers are closely aligned in a circle, you can stack widely. Before stacking the food, leave some space for the sauce, so that it will not split. Later, you can close the sauce with some shredded carrots or cucumbers. You can begin the stack the honey dews and the water melon. If the water melon is cut in cubes, it will be easier to stack like blocks.
Wah lah….
By the way, I only do this when I am eating with a crowd. For my family, I probably will just take what I like because only 2 of us who like salad. I am not going to waste the food.
Happy Trying!!
I thought I am done with IRB. I have gotten my PIN and even completed my e-filling for 2007. A “mission” letter came from them yesterday asking me to declare my PCB for 1995 & 1996. It was not asking me to fill it in but to request my ex-employer to complete it.
Now it is really a mission, first of all, if you want my ex-employer to fill it in, they should send the letter to my ex-employer directly. Hey, I am not even sure whether they are still around. Secondly, they want record dated 1995, that is 12 years ago. I thought the policy is to keep 5 or 7 years record? I am not sure they even have that record. In IT, most systems survive at most 5 years and later will need to be upgraded or migrated. Imagine, 12 years ago, they were running on first version of Microsoft Windows, not it is going to VISTA. Worst case is the companies all have close shop and where are we going to get the data? My children will say “So Silly!”
Being a “collector”, I do keep everything all the tax documents, just in case something like this happens. Imagine I have all my pay slips from my first job till now. Anyone knows how to write a good letter in Bahasa Malaysia? I will tell them that I cannot get hold of my previous employer and these are the documents I have. By the way, I already settle it in KL tax office before I moved to Penang. IRB oh IRB, when will you improve your service and not give us any paperwork?
New discovery I made today. A few days ago, I made a photocopy of myKad. Today I looked at the photocopy and saw the word SALINAN (aka copy). Opps, I thought myKad had the word there, it will be fake if it does. I took a look at it and it didn’t…Phew. You figure it out, how it gets there. Try yours and see.
Yesterday, my company organized a seminar by Lawrence Walter Ng. It is a very interesting seminar to motivate us. The main objective of this seminar is not motivation but how we should change our ways to serve our customers.
What is so cool about this seminar? Have you been to a seminar where everyone is motivated to participate, one way or another in a game, Q&A or volunteering to go up stage. There were more than 300 attendees. I must say the style of the trainer were very good. He is one of best speaker in Asia and he is a Malaysian. I am impressed by his work. There is just so much energy in the seminar.
If you are stress, depressed, not motivated with work/life or sad, just attend his seminar. He will teach you something that makes you see your life/problems in a different approach.
For example:
No Failures, Wrong Result, Change Strategy
There are no failures in life. We are not failures. However there are things we do that produces wrong result. Therefore we need to change strategy to produces the right results.
Often we hear these negative words:
– There are so many problems…
– I got scolded from my boss
– So difficult, cannot do…
– I don’t know…
– I’ll try …
– No Problem.
Change it to positive thoughts:
– There are so many problems -> There are so many challenges.
– I got scolded from my boss -> I got a message from my boss.
– Difficult -> Interesting.
– I don’t know. -> I find out.
– I’ll try. -> I do my best.
– No Problem -> My Pleasure.
By the way, he also gives out seminars to students who find problems in studying. The seminar is called “Art of Learning”. Pretty cool guy! He made me do a lot of silly things in the seminar itself that I never thought I will do. 😛

I love jigsaw puzzles, not those 100 pieces but 1000 or 5000 pieces. The satisfaction of getting the right piece to fit, increases my adrenaline. It takes me 3 days to complete a 1000 pieces. Once I start, I cannot stop. Trick is to do the corner pieces and work your way in. Collect the same color tone pieces and match those first.
Once you have completed it, apply the glossy glue on top of the puzzle and not below, you will be wasting glue if you apply it at the bottom. The glossy glue will give a shine on the surface. Do not frame it will glass as glass will reflect and when you look at it, it is not so nice.
During my Uni days, I did like 20-30 puzzles cheap ones, gave it all away. Now I do not have time for it after having 2 kids. Hey I did one during my confinement. Maybe when they grow up, I may restart and fill my house with jigsaw puzzles. By the way, I love solving puzzles too.
