Meaningless Message

January 2, 2008 | Permalink | 1 Comment

Have you ever receive such message where you cannot do anything with it?

Ad: Lam called and urgently looking for you.
Me: *no idea who Lam is* Did he say what it was?
Ad: No
Me: Did you ask for his contact number?
Ad: No
Me: What do you want me to do?
Ad: *speechless*

Now what should I do with message like this. I think my voicemail box does a better job, at least the caller would leave his/her contact in it.

I know some of us are not used to leaving message on a recording machine. I was once like that but got the hang of it after I started my job here in Penang. Everyone is given a virtual receptionist. A few classic voice messages that I received that I love to share:

VM#1

Hello, hello, ……*tut* *tut* *tut*….

VM#2

*music*

VM#3

Hi, I am calling from ABC and would like you to call me back. *what number should I dial?*

VM#4

Hi, I am bla…bla…bla…Please call me back at 2…7421. *too fast to catch what the number was, even after replaying the message a few times*

VM#5

Bla bla bla……………………bla bla….bla bla bla…. *ran out of memory*

I just learn a new trick after watching it on YouTube. Yes, I managed to balance an egg. It took me only 5 minutes to do it. It is not an impossible task. Believe me anyone can do it. The trick is to slant is to 87º. Go try it! By the way, the egg is uncooked.

Boxing Day

Today is Boxing Day and it is celebrated by most Commonwealth country such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada and UK. I am not sure why Malaysia is left out. No it is not a day to wrestle. Traditionally it is a day where the bosses give out gifts to the employees and the poor. Box as in Christmas box.

In some places, some families will receive a box full of goodies after Christmas Day. Boxes are given out. Some people will box up all the Christmas decoration.

For me, I have to work on Boxing Day. Sigh.

US Quarters Collection

I like the US quarters. If you look carefully, you can see a picture on the coin that is related to the state. I always want a full set. As I was surfing ebay, I saw a set being auction. In fact there were a few sellers. I managed to get a set of 88 coins with 44 states. It is just priceless. I must have gotten this DNA from my mother, she collects coins too. I wonder will I inherit her collection in the future.

Fridge Magnets

I love collecting fridge magnets. Whenever I travel to a new place on vacation or business trip, I will definitely get a magnet from the souvenir shop. I got a medium size fridge and now it is filled with magnets. Hey if you can send me a magnet from your state or country, I will greatly appreciate it. 😛

My children broke some of my magnets when playing with it. I have to take note in the future, to avoid getting those breakable ones. However some of the poor quality magnets do leave a stain on my fridge.

Rubik Cube

I started playing Rubik cube when it was first introduce to public that was in 1980. I remembered mine came with a formula sheet. My brother and I learn the formula since then. I played it so much that I was told by the school prefect not to bring it to school.

Anyway, the formula stayed with me all these years. There was one step I forgotten exactly how to do but I improvise. Oh I love solving this type of problem solving gadgets. It is fun and makes my adrenaline high. 😉

Paid Post

Thanks to Google, I have been seeing lots less paid post or blog posts in many blogs. Will this be for long or not? It seems that Google has penalized a lot of bloggers for doing paid post. However there are some who escape from it. I wonder how? Maybe Google cannot really tell whether a link is paid or not if blogger does not specify it.

Sorry to say that Google has made a lot of bloggers unhappy because these bloggers made a lot less. Oh well, lets hope a competition will arise to save these bloggers.

Blu Ray

Yesterday I was browsing the electronic store and found this blu ray player. I asked my hubby what is blu ray? He told me it is a new technology. Blu Ray is the next generation optical disc format that is better than DVD or VCD.

With Blu Ray, we are able to do recording, rewriting and playback with high definition video. It can store last amount of data. I heard 5 times more that DVD. WOW. I am talking about 25G or 50G of data and it is erasable.

However now you need a player to be able to play Blu Ray Disc. Time to change your player.

Cute Doggy Bag

I got this fabric bag from Penang QueensBay Mall. It has a cute little dog sewn on the bag which I love so much. In my humble opinion, it is worth much more than the I M Not A Plastic Bag.

I kind of like the store, the bags they are selling has either a dog or a cat sewn on it. It is really cute. The store is call pet shop. It has backpack, shoulder bag, purses, handphone pouch and all. The inside of the bag has lining which is water proof. The quality is not bad. I am not sure where this bag comes from but it is pretty. My children love it too.

Anyone know where is it made?

How Stuff Works

This is not a paid post. I stumble upon this “How Stuff Works” website a long time ago and it is really helpful. Basically it tells you how stuff works. If you want to know how your air cond, digital clocks, car, calculator, computer functions, the website can give you great details.

If I want to learn about an electronic gadget, I can refer to this website. It helps me get things working.

I found this interesting article entitled How can an iPod set your pants on fire — literally? Read it and for those who own iPod, becareful. If you ever get stuck on a gadget, refer to How Stuff Works!
