My aunt brought me to eat the famous XO Claypot Fish Head Noodle. It is delicious with their special chili sauce. I must tell you that the place is crowded and you have to avoid rush lunch hour. We went early and managed to get a seat. Definitely will go there again and giving it 5 STARS!

The place is at:

Garden Tips: Catch Those Slugs

November 19, 2012 | Permalink | Comments Off on Garden Tips: Catch Those Slugs

I really dislike those slugs, they destroy some of my plants. I have so many of them in my garden. Someone told me to use beer to get rid of them. When I heard that, I went out to get beer.

I get some small container and filled it with beer. The pungent smell of beer does attract them. When they drink, I believed they will fall inside the container and get drown. It works really well. I managed to catch 15-20 slugs altogether using 3 containers.

However this trick can only be done once. I tried the next day, the catch is not that many. I must try when the slugs have forgotten about it.

Garden Tips: Natural Way To Keep Cats Away

Not that I dislike cats but cats and garden do not go together. Often I see strayed cats coming into my garden and start to use my garden bed or planter box as their litter box. My plants are affected by it. First they trampled on my plants and their litter destroys the soil PH. A few of my plants died because of these stray cats.

I learn a natural way to keep them away. I use diluted vinegar and spray it at the pots of the side of the garden beds. They dislike the smell and they will not come near it. You have to spray it once a week to keep them away. So far it works!

Weekend Shopping

Last weekend, I went shopping for flowers. I like to see colors in my garden. When I was at the plants store, I saw so many beautiful flowers. It was not that expensive, most of them were below RM10 per pot.

I don’t know about you but I really have tough time planting anything from seed. I can plant clone herbs like basil or peppermint from stems. Maybe I didn’t have the patient or the soil is not right.

Anyway I almost wanted to get all the flowers there. They are so pretty. Here is what I got….

Now every now and then, I will walk to the garden if I want a rest from my work. It is quite refreshing really since most of the time I work from home. By the way, here is my vertical garden, I got the idea from internet. It is good for those who have very little space for gardening like my home. I hope I can plant more vegetables next! Choy Sum and tomato in the making.

Household Tips: Get Rid Of Stinky Smell

If your fridge has a really bad smell, what you can do is to wrap a piece of charcoal and put in the fridge. After a day, the smell will be absorbed into the charcoal. Try it if you do not believe me.

In the same way, you can also put crushed newspaper into your smelly shoes. Next day, it will have no smell at all. You do not even need to spray those un-natural perfumes into your shoes. Charcoal can absorb any smell that you want to get rid of. It is natural and good!

Now angry birds are so popular that you can almost find any products with angry birds’ pictures. I have seen flip flops, water bottles, tees, kite, bed sheets, moon cakes, stickers and lanterns with angry birds’ pictures. I am sure you have seen the angry birds’ soft toys too.

But have you seen this? *slap forehead*

Planting Basil & Peppermint

Do you know that you can plant basil and peppermint from the stem? It is really easy to plant these herbs. I do not have green hands. Often I failed to plant anything from seeds. Maybe I don’t have the patient.

Anyway, first you get a basil or peppermint stem and put into a glass of water. After 1 week, it will root. Then prepare a pot and soil. You have to make sure that the soil is wet and moist before transplanting. Water it every day. You will see it growing. It is that easy and simple. See how many pots I have made from 1 basil/peppermint plant.

Fake Flowers

I was con by the flower sellers in Cameron Highland. However I am not the only one who was con by them. If you ever go to Cameron Highland, beware of these flower sellers’ conmen.

The seller told me that the fresh flowers are preserved with chemical and it can lasts for 1 year. I don’t have to put into water, just put in the vase. I did and after 2 days, all died. RM10 down the drain and a good lesson to be learn here.

These are the flowers I bought!
