Thermomix

It is one very popular talk about kitchen gadget in my FB recently. Looks like every other person in my FB group is getting it. They have also put up pictures of their cooking that makes me drool. For me it is very expensive appliance and I don’t think I want to get one unless it is FREE.

However, today I went into eBay to look for one, just for the fun. I found one that is priced at 330 EURO on bid from Germany. The bid was about to end in 5 hours. I asked my friends who have 1 about the details and brand. All was matching to the description. By the way, the details were in German.

I Google for fake Thermomix and found that some buyer actually got a toy Thermomix from eBay. I contacted the seller and ask whether this is a real unit or toy. He said it was toy and it was in the description. Yeah the description was in German. Someone won the toy for 460EURO, pretty expensive to me.

Anyway, beware of toy Thermomix out there! It does exist

India Food

In Hyderabad, I heard that their biryani rice is very famous. Biryani is rice mixed with a meat curry dish. I do like their Basmati rice. It has very fragrant and less starch. In fact I got some back to cook. Besides this, their butter naan is also delicious. It must be eaten while it is hot. It is crispy and very tasty. It goes well with the vast variety of different curry.

The first day, my colleagues took me to a buffet. It looks like buffet is very common in Hyderabad. Every day I was having buffet. One thing about buffet is that you can taste all the different curry there is. I tasted mutton, chicken, fish, dhal and seafood curry, all at one go.

At the end of the meal, I was given some Indian sweets to make the mouth fragrant. I tasted 1 but I didn’t get use to the taste.

I must say that I enjoyed the food there so much.

Hotel Room Service:

Lobster Tail

Chicken Drumlets coated with curry spicy powder.

Look at the special lemon that is wrapped with cheese cloth to prevent the seed from falling on to the food. What a great idea.

Impressive Service At Novotel But ….

April 6, 2012 | Permalink | Comments Off on Impressive Service At Novotel But ….

I was in India last week and I must applause the ground service people in the Novotel Convention Center Hotel in Hyderabad. They were very courteous and polite. Everywhere I go, they greet me, always asking me if I needed help.

Most nights I would order room service for dinner because of my work schedule. India time zone was a little difficult for me to adapt. Once I finished work with my India counterpart, I need to rush back to the hotel to have meetings with the US folks as they wake up.

Anyway one of the meals that I ordered had a very tough beef. The in dinning service called and asked my feedback. I just made a small remark about the beef being tough, not tender enough. I didn’t expect much from my feedback. The service manager called me again and told me that he will offer free dessert. I was happy to hear that but I was also too full for dessert. I passed.

One thing they did was really out of the way was, after I return back home, I got an email next morning from the hotel. Apparently I left my GAP sweater in the room. Yeah I notice that when I was on the plane, freezing throughout the journey. They told me that they can courier it back to me. The next day, I receive it. Kudos to all the housekeeping & in-dining service people.

Now the bad part is that the front desk charged a security deposit on my company credit card. I have no idea about this until I returned and saw the charge on my online statement. My company travel agent booked the hotel for me so I wasn’t aware of that charge at all. I was a little disappointed because really I was about to write to tripadvisor.com sharing my great experience with the hotel. It will take 15 days for them to release the charge to me. The only thing I wasn’t happy that they made a charge without my consent. There goes your compliment to tripadvisor.com.

Travel Pack Meds

I will be making a business trip to Hyderabad India. It is first time ever going to India. Lots of people advise me on drinking water and food. It makes me a little nervous going there. I also got a call from my mum to prepare some diarrhea meds.

I went to my office clinic to ask for diarrhea meds. Look what they gave me? The doctor told me that this is a travel pack meds that include fever, flu, sore throat and diarrhea meds as well. Everything except charcoal pills.

Let’s hope I don’t fall sick when I am there.

Tempurung Cave

Perak, a state of Malaysia has many caves. I wanted to take my family to visit one. However many have turned into temples which is really sad. I found one called Gua Tempurung. I am glad that I could experience inside of the cave.

The wall of the cave is as solid as the steel buildings. In Gua Tempurung, they have stairs going up to the top level. I was having height phobia but after climbing up, it feels great to admire the top of the cave.

If you are in Gopeng, you should go visit the lovely cave. By the way, there are tours available. They have dry and wet tour. Wet tour requires you to go through the waters. I went for the dry tour and easy level. It was a good exercise too.

Here are some of the pictures of the cave.

LB Class People I

January 30, 2012 | Permalink | Comments Off on LB Class People I

I need to blog about this about a certain group of people who really has joined the LB Class People. Well, I always believed everyone is the same class but somehow this group of people really wants to put themselves there.

So what does LB stand for? LB is Lau Beh (in Hokkien) or odd type of people or people who do not conform to the standard, can be inconsiderate to other or irritate others.

Here are 2 real cases of LB people, you judge for yourself.

Case 1:
One day, I heard my mom shouting and I looked through the window. I saw a guy walking his dog, his dog was about to shit in front of our gate. After hearing my mother scolding, he pull his dog to my neighbor’s house and the dog is still shitting.

My mother kept telling him to take the dog somewhere else. He kept nodding his head but didn’t move his dog. How LB can he be?

Even, his dad came out of the house, telling him to do so. He just stands there with his dog and nod his head. Really something is wrong with him.

Case 2:
I was fetching my son to the tuition center. I was on the other side of the road. The road here is very narrow, even worst with parking on both sides. I wanted to turn into the parking lot but this car just stopped next to me, on the other side. I believed she is waiting for her child to come out from the tuition center. She didn’t budge, even when I horn her. She was causing traffic on both side, as she double park on the moving lane.

Thank goodness, the parking attendant came and asks her to move so that I can park. Another LB lady!

Beware of Scammers

It is so sad to see so many con artists on the Net especially those Nigerian’s email. The other day I posted some stuff I want sell on mudah.my. After posting it, I received many emails saying they are from UK/London or abroad wanted to buy my stuff. But they want me to ship to Nigeria or South Africa. Yeah right!

Anyway, I told them straight that I do not do any shipping outside my country. Yet, they still email me back. Can’t they take hint that I know they are cons.

I am glad I read one article here:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/3887493.stm, someone actually able to con them back. As a Chinese saying goes “If you don’t taste chili, you don’t know that it is hot”

So beware of this scammers out there especially if you are selling stuff on the Net!

Household Tips: Fish Tank Magnet Cleaner

December 18, 2011 | Permalink | Comments Off on Household Tips: Fish Tank Magnet Cleaner

My fish tank is filled with green algae stain and I really need to clean it. I cannot possibly take out everything from the tank and do a thorough clean because there are layers of sand and stone nicely placed below.

I always wanted to get a magnet cleaner but not sure if it will work. Anyway I went ahead and got a good brand. It is the Marina Hagen Glass Algae Magnet Aquarium Cleaner. There is a powerful magnet to ensure a very tight grip. It has a tiny brush bristles that scrub the glass but it will not scratch it. You do not even need to put in force to do the scrubbing. All it needs is a rapid small movement back and forth and the green stain will come off.

Now my tank looks clear and pretty. I am sure my fish is very happy to see my smiling face. Make sure you get a good brand of the magnet cleaner.

Work of The Hands

I know a friend who loves to do craft. She paints shoes, beads jewelry, clay pendants and lots more. She really has a pair of beautiful hands to do lovely craft. She is very creative too. I am sure she also can make those lovely shamballa bracelets.

I love to do craft myself. Recently I have been doing a lot of cross stitching. Sometimes when I need to be in a virtual meeting, I stitch while listening. Here are some of my cross stitch collections….
