I love basil especially in my Vietnamese noodles called Pho. My friend planted a lot of these and she gave me a few. I was so happy because finally I can have my own basil plants. In fact I was looking for it last year but no one has it.
Basil is good for people who is diabetic and asthma. Hey even my children loves to eat it just like that. I hope it will sprout more basil leaves then I can make some pho at home.
Yeap, I will start an herb garden soon. I love planting but I don’t have green hands like my father in law.
Last time when I was at Victoria Secrets, I walked in and walked out empty handed. I am not a lingerie person. There wasn’t anything for me. This time around, I walked in and I got these goodies.
I am not sure whether it is cheap or not but I know that we cannot get any here. It was 5 bottles for US$25 or 7 bottles for US$30. I also got lots of sweet smelling sanitizers from there. Maybe they should open a chain of Victoria Secrets in Malaysia. I am sure lots of ladies, even men would be interested.
One guy who took a hanger of lingerie and asked the sales lady loudly, ”Is this set complete?” “Do I need to get anything extra?” That was funny. The sales lady got shock for a while and later helps him. I used to subscribe to VS catalog and I like most of the blouses there. However the shipping is costly. Lets hope it will come here soon!

Many hotels claim to be green. Often I see a card in the hotel telling us to limit the usage of towels and leave it in the tub if it required washing. They encourage us not to waste energy for the washing, waste labor or waste detergent. I am not sure they want to cut down on expenses for more profit or they want to help the environment.
One of the hotels I stayed to had this sign. However I am surprised that they use foam cups and plates. It takes a very long time for polystyrene material that makes the foam cup biodegrade. Materials that are not good for the environment. I bet they want to save money of labor to wash the plates or cups. They do provide plates and cups but it was not very visible. Cutleries are all plastics.
Next time if any hotel tells you they are green, better take it with a pinch of salt. They want to be green if it can help them save cost.
I got a pack of all in one necklace DIY jewelry. It was on sale. I kind of like the pattern. A few days ago, I opened it and started putting it together. Inside, has all the material needed to make a necklace. Instead of making a necklace because I seldom wear one, I made a bracelet instead.
Here is the finish silver bracelet. I am wearing it now. Just lovely. By the way, it is less than RM20. Do you think I can sell this?
Today my friend relayed this story to me. Take it with a pinch of salt. She has a sick relative suspected of high fever and flu. She took her to the clinic to check, hoping for a blood test. The doctor said that she should have gone to the hospital and not come to the clinic. My personal thoughts: The doctor was afraid of a true case of H1N1. He refused to do a blood test for her. Well the doctor has a point, if she is truly H1N1 or flu, she will be spreading to others in the waiting area. Maybe even close down the clinic for a week.
So my friend took her to a private hospital emergency wad. The hospital told her to wait at the emergency waiting area. There were people there too, also in danger of getting her flu. Finally she got to see the doctor again refuse the blood test. The doctor said if he was to do a blood test and it is a true H1N1, they may need to close down the hospital. He directed her to General Hospital, GH (aka public hospital). My personal thoughts: Yeah, should have just sent her away to GH quickly and not have her wait in the waiting area, right?
She went to GH and also directed to the waiting area with lots of people in queue. She had to wait longer until 2am. Finally her turn came. It is funny, when the doctor heard her symptoms, quickly he grabbed a mask and put it on. He also gave her one to put on. GH didn’t have a proper quarantine waiting room, put her in a secluded area. She finally got the blood test done. My personal thoughts: I wondered why they cannot put up a proper secluded waiting area and gave out mask ahead for flu symptoms patients. The process need to be changed. GH is way under staffs and there are too many patients.
The blood test result state that she has dengue. Actually my friend already suspected that her relative got dengue because of the red spots. However doctors refuse to listen or maybe too scare to do the blood test. Poor sick gal had to go through the terrible ordeal, waiting and rejection. Is that how we get treated if we are sick? Something for the govt to ponder.
I saw some lovely ribbons from Hobby Lobby and Michaels, the craft store. Immediately I got some home, not some but a lot…hehehehe. I love doing craft but I will limit myself to do craft that I can use. Besides getting ribbons, I got 2 rolls of yarn to make a hang bag, when I have time. I also got some nice charms and beads.
So I got the clips and ribbons:
With the online free tutorials to make beautiful bows, I made these. Does it look professional? They are all for my gal to wear on her hair.
I love cherries. I first got to taste cherries when I was in Australia studying. I love it ever since. I used to carry a big box back every time I come home for holidays. Cherries have a very short life span after it is pluck. You cannot really keep them very long, it will go bad. It is one of the reasons why it is so expensive in Malaysia.
When I was in US, I was so happy to see cherries. It is selling 1.28 per lb. It is so cheap and yummy. I bought 2 lb right away. If I get it here, it will be RM10 for probably 20 cherries.
I managed to loot another 6 lb back from Costco to carry home to Malaysia. I gave half to my in laws and the rest were gone within a few days. If only we can plant cherries here, I will have a garden of it. If anyone coming here from US, bring me cherries!
One Saturday morning, I woke up and switched on the TV. I was sucked in by the Infomercial, you know where they sell things on TV. This was in US. I tell you I cannot live there else I go bankrupt easily.
I saw a vacuum broom and it is so need. The minute I saw it, I wanted it. The TV deal was 2 for US29.90. Great deal right? Nope I didn’t get it on TV, I am not that crazy.
However I was hunting for it in the local store when I was in the Bay Area. I was in the dilemma to get it or not. Finally, Vien took me to Macy at Stanford Mall and found one there. I like the packing, it is small and I can definitely stuff into my baggage.
The electric vacuum sweeper is very flexible, you can maneuver it through every corner. It sucks up all my fallen hair that my broom cannot sweep. It does not need a vacuum bag. It is wireless which means you don’t have wire dangling everywhere when you use it or trip over it. It has a charger for you to charge it up. The suction is pretty strong. Since it is a US unit, I need a step down transformer to charge the battery. With the help of my hubby, I managed to get one which is small to convert 110V to 240V. Pretty need. Don’t you want to get one too? I bet if I imported a whole bunch it, it will sell like hot cakes here.
Step Down Transformer:
I love doing online shopping and I usually buy from ebay and Amazon.com. Weeks before I went to US, I did most of my shopping in Amazon.com. In Amazon.com, I get free shipping and no tax if I ship to Bay Area in US. It is better than physically shopping in Bay Area. Imagine 9.25% of tax added to your buying cost. Not fun!
I managed to get most of my son’s transformer toys there and it was on special too. I couldn’t find the latest Fallen in the local stores. I am glad I made the decision to get it online. My boy and nephew are grinning from ear to ear to see what I got for them.
I was also hoping to get a Spongebob Lego for my gal. I saw a couple of sellers in ebay having that product. However I didn’t win any of the bids. The price of the Lego was ok but the shipping cost was ridiculous. I managed to get it from Amazon.com at $37.90 without tax and shipping charges. The local store was selling from $39.90 + 9.25% tax.
If you are in the US, do pay attention to Amazon.com. I wished they have free shipping in Malaysia. That will be so cool!
