I know many of you are playing Candy Crush. Here is a tip for you. If you cannot solve the level in your iPad, Android or iPhone, try doing it on your PC using the Facebook AppCenter. Many times I could pass the level using PC.
Somehow it is easier using the PC. Hope this tip helps you!
I went down from Penang to KL during the Raya Holidays. My family wanted to stop at Ipoh McDonald like we always do. This time around, it was a little confusing due to the road changes along Ipoh. I wonder who design the road there. The road was split into 2, right going down to KL and left going into Ipoh.
Basically you have to make a choice at the split. You need to keep left if you want to go Ipoh. If you miss that, you have to make a U turn at Simpang Pulai that is quite far down. Same goes on the other side of the road. By the way, both roads are parallel but it has a divider between the 2. The way it is design is really confusing especially for newbie driving on this highway. So watch out!
By the way, the traffic was really bad going up north, Ipoh to Penang. Fortunately we are on the other side, was free flow all the way.
I received an electricity bill for my new condo last month cost RM1.70 and I thought I didn’t have to pay as the govt stated electricity bill under RM20, we do not have to pay. This month I received another RM3.00 but last month RM1.70 is added, totaling RM4.70. My new condo meter is still showing 0 kwh.
I went to the TNB office to seek clarification. Guess what the customer service told me. He said very loudly that the budget 2009 stated that you do not have to pay if the electricity bill is below RM20 with consumption. He repeated the 2 words “with consumption”. Can you believe that?
Does that mean, I have to use go and on a light bulb to ensure the meter have reading before I get it free? How absurd! If I do that, I will be wasting electricity, just to get it free.
Ooh, I just called from the TNB officer after I submitted a online complaint, the criteria is to use at least 5 kwh of electricity. Are they asking me to waste 5 kwh to enjoyed the RM20 rebate? *shake head*
Looks like, they are adding more criteria to this rebate to prevent customers from claiming. By the way, I do not see any of these criteria being published in the newspaper. If yes, do let me know. I cannot find any criteria in the TNB Website either.
The statement that support my dispute and I quote “As part of the Government’s effort to further reduce the financial burden of the lower income group, households which incur monthly electricity bills of RM20 or less, will not have to pay for electricity, for the period from 1 October 2008 to end of 2009.”

Now I may have to go to my condo to use 5kwh of power every month. TNB, you forced me to waste electricity!
I remembered in my school days, I was taught to keep to the left side when walking. It is just like how we drive. When I go up the stairs, I need to keep left. I wonder did you have the same teaching. I found many did not because in my work place hallway, people just walk however they like.
These tend to bang into me when they corner on the right side. Sometimes these people like to take short cut.
And then there is the escalator. Malaysian escalator has no standard. Some time the left side of the escalator goes up and sometimes the right side goes up. They are a confused lot.
At the escalator, people likes to stand in the middle blocking people who want to go down fast. Haven’t they learned to keep left and leave the right side for traffic flow? I believed in Singapore, signs are everywhere to make sure people are aware and do the right thing.
Keep left next time you walk yeah except when you are in a different country. Different county has different directions.
This is not a paid post. I stumble upon this “How Stuff Works” website a long time ago and it is really helpful. Basically it tells you how stuff works. If you want to know how your air cond, digital clocks, car, calculator, computer functions, the website can give you great details.
If I want to learn about an electronic gadget, I can refer to this website. It helps me get things working.
I found this interesting article entitled How can an iPod set your pants on fire — literally? Read it and for those who own iPod, becareful. If you ever get stuck on a gadget, refer to How Stuff Works!
Someone asked me to blog about stocks trading in US. It is really simple to trade shares in US. All you need is to open an online trading account. There are couples of US online trading available like Ameritrade, eTrade, Scottrade and others. Each has its own pricing, benefit and T&C. You have to pay attention to Service Fee, Trading Fee and other administration fees.
Here is a chart that I have put up, note there may be changes to the fees:
TD Ameritrade | eTrade | Scottrade | |
Minimum To Open An Account | $2000 | $1000 | $500 |
Minimum Account Balance | $0 | $1000 | $500 |
Trading Fee | $9.99 Unlimited Shares | $12.99 With Conditions | $7 Unlimited Shares With Conditions |
Quarterly/Annual Account Maintenance Fee | $0/$0 | $40/60 | $0/$0 |
Wire Funds Out Fee Domestic/ International | $25 | $25 | $20/$40 |
Stocks Certificates Issuing | $50 | $40 per certs | $250 |
Account Closing & Transfer Out Fee | $75 | $60 | $0 |
Other Fees | Other Fees | Other Fees | Other Fees |
My advice to you before selecting a trading account, do read their company portfolio and read customers’ review on their company.
After you have chosen an online trading account, you registered and open an account. You have to fill W8 BEN form. This form is to state that you are not an US Citizen, if you aren’t. You will be tax differently.
Do not play with Margin Options, switch it off. This option allows you to borrow money to invest in the shares. It can burn you deeply if your shares fall under its value. Interest is high.
With US shares, you can buy 1 unit. It is different from Malaysia where you need to buy minimum of a 1000. Of coz, it is a little crazy to buy 1 unit as you will be wasting transaction fees. Let say company XYZ share is US20. You can buy say 10 units and pay US200 + transaction fees.
Selling and buying is just a click of a button. The trading acct will provide you with tools like streamer that allow you to view the shares price live and online. You can set it to your targeted shares. For me, I am long term investor, I do not do any short selling. I buy and keep. However if the shares go up to a certain threshold, I may sell. Some shares do give out dividends when the company profits.
You can also set your target price on the trading tool. When it hits the target price, your shares will be automatically sold off. This is very useful especially when you cannot monitor US shares during the night time. Sometimes shares can hit the peak for short period of time and dropped quickly.
Lastly when you have profited and want to transfer money back, you can use wire transfer to bring money home to any local banks. You need to request your local bank swift code or ABA routing number. All local banks have it. In your trading account, you need to fill up your wire transfer information with ABA routing code, your local account number and other required information. Happy Investing.
Take note any investments, there are risks. Before diving into an investment, do your research. There are message boards (aka forum) from Yahoo or any other where a lot of people talk about the individual company. You can gain some information from it. There are also analyst reports to help you with. However it has a lot of financial terms which is difficult to digest.

New discovery I made today. A few days ago, I made a photocopy of myKad. Today I looked at the photocopy and saw the word SALINAN (aka copy). Opps, I thought myKad had the word there, it will be fake if it does. I took a look at it and it didn’t…Phew. You figure it out, how it gets there. Try yours and see.
When my children are sound asleep, what do I do? Lately I have been watching a whole lot of TV or Internet surfing. Today I came across a very useful plug-in for my blog. The plug-in is called “Clean Archives”. Source: http://www.sporadicnonsense.com/archives/.
Basically what it does is create a page showing the table of contents of my entire blog. Pretty cool. Tada, here is it: http://mybabybay.com/blog/?page_id=363. It is also in my sidebar under Pages called My Archives.
It works for those bloggers who are using WP and have their own host. Sorry, not sure whether it can work for those hosting in blogspot or wordpress.
Ok, enough of computer nonsense, back to bed..zzzZZZ
Yesterday, my company organized a seminar by Lawrence Walter Ng. It is a very interesting seminar to motivate us. The main objective of this seminar is not motivation but how we should change our ways to serve our customers.
What is so cool about this seminar? Have you been to a seminar where everyone is motivated to participate, one way or another in a game, Q&A or volunteering to go up stage. There were more than 300 attendees. I must say the style of the trainer were very good. He is one of best speaker in Asia and he is a Malaysian. I am impressed by his work. There is just so much energy in the seminar.
If you are stress, depressed, not motivated with work/life or sad, just attend his seminar. He will teach you something that makes you see your life/problems in a different approach.
For example:
No Failures, Wrong Result, Change Strategy
There are no failures in life. We are not failures. However there are things we do that produces wrong result. Therefore we need to change strategy to produces the right results.
Often we hear these negative words:
– There are so many problems…
– I got scolded from my boss
– So difficult, cannot do…
– I don’t know…
– I’ll try …
– No Problem.
Change it to positive thoughts:
– There are so many problems -> There are so many challenges.
– I got scolded from my boss -> I got a message from my boss.
– Difficult -> Interesting.
– I don’t know. -> I find out.
– I’ll try. -> I do my best.
– No Problem -> My Pleasure.
By the way, he also gives out seminars to students who find problems in studying. The seminar is called “Art of Learning”. Pretty cool guy! He made me do a lot of silly things in the seminar itself that I never thought I will do. 😛
