MyKad
New discovery I made today. A few days ago, I made a photocopy of myKad. Today I looked at the photocopy and saw the word SALINAN (aka copy). Opps, I thought myKad had the word there, it will be fake if it does. I took a look at it and it didn’t…Phew. You figure it out, how it gets there. Try yours and see.

Activities Books

Let me introduce you to Sticker Books that I got from Times Bookstore in Changi Airport. It is great for children at the age of 2 and above. Basically it teaches children to find the right shape and paste the sticker there plus lots of information about a certain topic. It also have free pasting. The book comes with over 200 reusable stickers. What I like about this book is that the pages are glossy, stickers can be reused. You can pull out the sticker again and stick on a different page, while the glue lasts.
The one I got for Tim have more information on military technology. It has information on fire trucks, police operations, military air planes and rescue team info. Great for learning! The book costs SGD12.90

Another book that I got, this one is from MPH with discount of 30% for members, it is called paper doll books. The books come with 6 paper dolls and many type of paper clothing plus accessories. You can dress the dolls with each different style like wedding style, princess style, dancing clothes, ballerina etc etc.. It will be more fun for the gals.
I remembered when I was young, I used to draw the dolls and clothes for the dolls to play. Now it comes in a book. However with the book, it can never stop you from designing more clothes for the paper dolls. The book cost RM16.90.

P/S The photo shots are not very good because it is taken from a camera phone. Hubby is busy now a days and I accidentally broke his lens. Thank God, he got that fix for free.
WP New Plugin – My Archives
When my children are sound asleep, what do I do? Lately I have been watching a whole lot of TV or Internet surfing. Today I came across a very useful plug-in for my blog. The plug-in is called “Clean Archives”. Source: http://www.sporadicnonsense.com/archives/.
Basically what it does is create a page showing the table of contents of my entire blog. Pretty cool. Tada, here is it: http://mybabybay.com/blog/?page_id=363. It is also in my sidebar under Pages called My Archives.
It works for those bloggers who are using WP and have their own host. Sorry, not sure whether it can work for those hosting in blogspot or wordpress.
Ok, enough of computer nonsense, back to bed..zzzZZZ

Pan Mee
I love a pan mee stall in KL. It is in Chow Kit Lorong Haji Taib 4 Road. That is where I grew up. The flat that I used to stay, now become a Tiong Nam Union (aka Persatuan Penjaja Tiong Nam). It has a lot of “lieu” as in mushroom strips, minced pork and vege. Pan Mee is a self-made flour noodle. It taste better when you add chilli and lime in it. Simply delicious!!!

Buzz & Little Mermaid
I got these towels for my children when I was in Singapore. Both my children loved it. Every bath time, they want to be mermaid or buzz. Sometimes they exchange. At least now, they don’t run around naked after bath time.

Parking
My company has a lot of employees and each has their own cars. Put 1 and 1 together, you get parking problems. Worst now we have 2 companies in 1 location, more parking problems. Management claimed that there are sufficient parking spaces for all employees. Some lots are really far away, it is like walking from 1 end of mid valley to the other. The only fortunate thing is we do not have to pay for parking.
Some of the things people do to overcome the problem.
1. Come very early, get a good spot right in front of the building.
2. Get pregnant, you get a reserved car park.
3. Work from home.
4. Car pool with other colleagues.
5. Create virtual parking lots.
…..
Management just kicked item #5 off the list. Picture below.

Local Share Investment
I never invested in local shares before and I never knew how. I do have an account in US to invest in US shares. That was because my company has a benefit share plan for us to purchase our company shares at discounted rates.
Anyway, last Friday, a courier package came and it was from StemLife. The company is going public listed. Cool. 😎 I didn’t read the prospectus, it was as thick as my programming books. I read the form and was tempted to invest. It was a 2 pages form, but the things I have to do, to successfully apply for the shares, is exhausting. I received the package on 29 Sept, the dateline is 5th Oct. Not much time to work with.
Things to do:
1. I have to apply for a CDS account to be able to buy any local shares. Fortunately I know a friend who works in the share trading company. I got her help to get me the CDS account on the same day. 1 obstacle done.
2. I have to make a copy of my IC, front and back on the same page.
3. I have to fill in the form carefully. No liquid paper can be use on the form.
4. I have to get a banker’s cheque. Personal cheques are not allowed. I blog about it yesterday, it was done too.
5. I have to buy two 50sen stamp, one for A envelope and one for B envelope. They will send you back the A envelope with your cheque if it is not successful.
6. I need to send it, it says using Ordinary mail. You can opt to drop it into their office if you are staying in KL. It is really impossible for people outstation to send ordinary mail and reach the destination before date due. I send it using Express Mail, not sure whether they will reject my application. By the way, register mail is a no no because PO box cannot sign when receive. :giggles:
7. Mail it and wait for response. Phew.
Now all I have to sit back and wait for them to tell me if it is successful. By the way, the company will ballot, if you get pick, the shares will be sold to you. If I don’t I need to go back to the bank, to claim back the money.
I just learn that you can do all the above except for number 1, using Internet banking. In order to do that, you need to setup the account first by submitting a physical form. For Maybank, you can use ATM or Internet Banking. Somehow, I don’t know why StemLife was not listed.
It was a great experience though to beat the deadline. If it was from some company that I don’t know, it will probably end up in the bin.
Anyone want to know how to invest in US share?
Thumbs Down Service
I went to the bank to get a banker’s cheque. Usually I will just go straight to the counter 7, get the form, filled it up, pass to the officer to process, go to lunch and come back to collect. Easy, fast and efficient.

Today I walked to counter 7 to get the form. Officer gave me the form, request me to get a ticket number.

No problem, fill the form up and get a ticket number. Go to counter 7, pass him the ticket and form. He told me to wait for number to be call and other counters (1 to 6) can service me. He was servicing another fellow who came after me while I was getting the number. I told him, the last time I did that, the officer counter 1-6 will refer me back to counter 7. He asked me to wait.

I waited as he was still servicing the other guy slowly. I asked him again, can I leave the form here while I go for lunch, later come back to collect. He asked me to wait.

Later, my number was called at counter 4. I passed the form to the officer at counter 4. He called the officer at counter 7 as he didn’t know how to process it. Officer 7 instructs officer 4, but officer 7 had difficulty. Officer 4 passed everything to officer 7 and asked him to process it. Back to counter 7.

After 2 minutes, he asked me to go for lunch while he process my documents and come back to collect when it is done. He just wasted my precious time!!

Note: The officer who service me is a Chinese. 🙂
WORMS
This post is related to IT. A worm is a self replicating program. An email worm is when a email is send to a bunch of users and from the bunch of users’ address book, it spread to others. The harm the worm does is to reduce the performance of the network, consuming its bandwidth. You will find slowness in your downloading or access of websites.
There is an outbreak of worm in a company and it is an email worm. A bunch of users receive replication of the same email. One NB fellow decided to email everyone in the company to stop sending the email. Some who received the messages reply all asking to be removed from distribution list as well. By doing this, the NB fellow just created another worm. :wall:
If you ever received a worm, all you have to do is to delete the message and do nothing. Do not take any action, like executing whatever the email is asking you to do. If you do not know who the sender is, best is to delete it from your email box.
There are many viruses, worm or spams that deliberately con you into doing things you regret. The most famous one, you have won a LOTTERY but you need to send them money to collect your prize winnings. Others like, your bank wants you to update your information, please go to this site, update your password or credit card number. If the bank wants you to do that, the bank will call you or send you a legitimate letter. Beware of this malicious act.
