My hubby gave me this cool wifi mouse some time ago. It is really a high tech mouse because it is also a transformer. It can transform from flat thing to a mouse. By the way, the inside tech is created by my hubby’s company. He got it free from his customers. It runs on a wifi technology which means no wire. It uses a USB connected as a receiver. It is also a laser mouse to move the pointer. It is easy to carry with me wherever I go.
HTML is the simplest form of readable coding. For those bloggers who is not programming literate, you can pick HTML easily. Let me give you some simple tutorial.
There is a begin tag and an end tag. Begin tag is the start of the format and end tag is the end of the format. Say you want to want to bold a sentence “Hello World”.
<b> is for bold.
</b> a slash in front of “b” is end of bold.
<b>Hello World</b>
Try it on notepad and save it as file.htm. You can open the file using a browser to see the effect.
<img src=”http://mybabybay.com/pic.jpg”> – image (no ending tag for this)
<a href=“http://mybabybay.com/link.htm”>Link</a> – link
<b></b> – bold
<u></u> – underline
<p></p> – paragraph
<center></center> – center your text or image
You can find get the entire list from Google search.
Next a webpage is divided into sections.
<html></html> – doc
<head></head> – header, usually the
A typical page will look like this:
<html>
<head><title>Title of the Page</title>
</head>
<body>
<b>Hello World!</b>
</body>
</html>
To learn more, Google some basic HTML tutorial. I bet you will be an expert in no time.
GiddyTiger pass this tag to me. Sorry guys I know I owe a lot of people many tags. I am trying to be selective about tags because I always have a struggle doing silly tags. Apparently this is an interesting tag.
Here is what I am supposed to do. List down the following:
1. The phone(s) that you owned previously
2. The phone(s) that you’re using now
3. The phone(s) that you’re looking at to replace the current phone
My first phone – Motorola
I remembered it was 1996, my sister wanted to upgrade her phone and pass me her old phone. Sorry I forgot what the model was. Hey it was more than 10 years. However the phone was good for cracking nuts. I didn’t like the charger, it was huge.
My second phone – Nokia 8210
It was my wedding gift. Both hubby and I bought each other Nokia 8210 with a portion of the wedding angpow that we got. By the way, we bought genuine Nokia. It lasted for quite a while. By the way, both my hubby and I are not a phone person. Imagine we have RM800 each on our phone. My best friend called me crazy and tried to help me utilize it.
One day I was watching Survivor on ntv7 and there was an SMS contest. It was the opportunity to exchange the money for some gift. In fact I won another camera phone with RM200. The phone cost above 1K. By the way, my hubby told his colleague about it and he won 2 phones too.
My third phone – Panasonic (Won from Survivor ntv7 contest)
It was my first camera and internet phone. With this phone, I downloaded some programs in the phone to allow me to chat using the Internet. Previously when they started GPRS, everything was free.
My fourth and current phone – Motorola V3X
I upgraded my phone because the Panasonic phone connector gave up on me. It was difficult to charge. I always like a flip phone and Motorola’s phone software which is why I chose V3x. It is also a 3G phone. I used the phone to surf and check my internet email. You can download Opera Mini a phone browser.
Next phone:
I am waiting for iPhone to have WiFi capability.
Now it is time for you to do this tag:
Finally my new notebook and a 17 inch LCD display came. At my workplace we get a new notebook every 3 years. It is a technology refresh program. The brand is HP nc4400 and there were some design flaws that I spotted. Firstly the USD ports are all over, right left and back. Secondly, the top left mouse button is a bit cacat (not in order). Thirdly, the power button is not very visible. I am still looking for the reset button.
The great thing about the notebook is that it comes with a DVD Writer. The notebook has thumb print security recognition. You can steal my notebook but you cannot access to it without my thumb print. 😆 One more thing, it has 2G RAM, super duper fast!!!
I will be busy moving data, files and software from my old notebook to the new one. How I wish I can just image it over.
Many mothers have asked me about Google Reader and how it works. It is simple to use.
There is no installation is required. Which means you can go to any computer to login to read blogs. You just need a google account. If you have a gmail account, that will do. Go to http://www.google.com/reader and Login.
To add blogs, just click Add subscription and key in the blog url. You don’t even need to know the blog type, the feed URL and other technical details.
When you click “All Items”, the blog name and titles will appear on your right frame. You can even click to go from blog to blog on the left frame. Some asked me how I can tell whether they are sponsored post. I can recognize most paid post by the titles.
If Google reader can add filter, it will be perfect. As I can filter you know what post.
I was crazy over the IPhone when it was virtually launched. However after reading about it and the arrival of it into the market, my craving of it has reduced. I am not saying that it is not a great phone, the technology and graphics are good. It has a great browser and features.
The thing that is missing that I really want is wifi in that phone. It is not there. I mean with a full fetched Internet feature but no wifi. Do you know what that means? You need to pay for Internet access using your telco. In this case, AT&T and maybe future telco that comes alone. Sure it has a plan, use-all-you-need with 1 fixed price. If the plan goes way, you are in trouble. Imagine you get the hang of surfing with your iPhone and you have to pay for every min that you access the Internet with. Hefty!
The latest news, with the iPhone, it produces over 300 pages of bills for some. Way to go for killing the trees, I wonder whose great idea was it to print it and send to customers?

How many of you backup your own blog? Do you trust your server hosting company to do a good job? As I do not pay a significant amount of money for my host server, some of the things I have to do on my own. My host server management is actually doing a great job, they have proper backup process in place.
A word of warning to you, especially for those who are earning from PPP or whatever advertising program, backup your blog. You may not know when a hacker will strike or a server crash. It happens as hardware is not 100% reliable. If all your postings are gone, those unpaid sponsored post will be gone.
I am running my blog on a very old version. I kind of like the old version interface and got used to it for so many years. The new version sometimes gives me a headache. With this old version, there isn’t any export function. On top of that, it is an old version, so installation of the old version may not be available in the even I need a recovery.
Anyway, I found an excellent plugin (wp-xmlmigrate plugin) to export it to XML file from http://technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import/ . For those running on WP 2.x and above, there should be an export function. You can export your entire blog to XML file and store it in your PC periodically. On top of that, I also backup my blog database. I believed the XML restoration will be faster than restoring the database.
I did a lot of searching before I found this plugin, there were many other plugins that I installed which didn’t work. One that I downloaded, mess up my entire blog. Imagine, my entire blog gone, yes a total blank page. If you were me, you will freak out. Fortunately I had backup and restore it. It works, phew. Backup is very important, so put some thoughts into it.
Oh, for those who do not know what I am saying because it is too technical, check with your hosting server company and ask them about their backup process. I think they can help you.
I must apologize to you because lately my host server has been cranky due to spam I guess. Many of you had left me comment and the “error” page appear. Some of you may have left duplicate comments due to this. Yeah I notice. It is okay because I will clean up those duplicated comments.
The host server used to be 95% reliable when I started. It is among the cheapest server anyone can get. Customer Service was also superb, not that I hassle them always. :giggles: Anyway these few years, the reliability has drop tremendously. The server management is not able to filter spams that hit them.
I will give them one more year before I change. Hehehe…giving myself excuse. Moving to another server take some effort and I am either too busy or lazy to do. Any good and cheap server hosting out there? Opps, please don’t spam me yeah.
We had a choice between the Singapore Science Center and Jurong Bird Park. Both I heard were equally good. My hubby had 1 day off on Labor day, so we could only go to 1. After much discussion with him, we pick Singapore Science Center, at least it is in door and the children can learn and have fun with Science.
Singapore Science Center is located in Jurong East, you can take MRT to Jurong East Station on East West Line and transfer to bus no 335. We took a cab instead.
We made the right decision, there are so many things to play, learn and have fun. We started with the Omni-Theatre, a dome shape IMAX theater that gives a 4D effects movie. We learnt about the human body.
There is also a mini water park for children to have fun. If we knew about it, we would have bought an extra change of clothes. My children just love playing with water. The place is huge, we could only cover the Atrium, even that we didn’t finished all the science stations. We didn’t go to the Snow City.
Entrance fee is $6 for adult and $3 for child, for IMax theatre $10 for adult and $5 for child, per movie. We bought the special package $12.80 per adult and $6.40 for child. Food wise, there are not many places to eat, only 3. McDonalds, a buffet lunch or Rocks café. There were a crowd in all food places since it was a public holidays, even the buffet lunch have to make reservation. We ended up in McDonalds. I must say that the kid’s meals are healthy, not the nuggets but they serve milk drink and fresh apples, instead of oily fries and soft drinks.
The most interesting thing we saw was the Lightning demo or experiment, my hubby recorded it for you to watch. Don’t worry, there is no thunder but an explosion at the end.
More pictures on how fun and educated the day was.
Lightning Experiment
It came with a wireless keyboard, no messy wire on the table. In addition, we got free speakers which we are going to sell it off. We don’t need such big speakers. The internal speakers are good enough.
Why iMac? You probably need a new PC to run Microsoft Vista. You spend less time troubleshooting, all hardware and software just work. You can run dual OS, Mac and Microsoft Vista on the same machine using VMware. Major, major importance iMac has the highest security with less malicious attack. You don’t need to hunt for drivers every time you install a new gadget or hardware. Besides that, it is known that iMac produce the best resolution for movie. Lots of advertising company is using iMac for their work of art. Have I changed your mind yet?
My hubby and I were exploring the iMAC til 1am yesterday. *yawn*
